An oil with vital force
Evening primrose oil is a rich source of essential fatty acids. Human metabolism requires fats for its optimal functioning. Therefore, the health-conscious may take care of their bodies internally by consuming natural and cold-pressed organic oils. Evening primrose (Oenothera biennis) is a wild, herbaceous, perennial herb. It owes its name to the fact that it only opens its flowers in the evening to attract moths and insects with its scent to be pollinated. The flowers only last until the following noon, but a new flower opens every evening. Blooming lasts from June till August. Originally from North America, evening primrose was shipped to Europe on merchant ships about 350 years ago. But it was only later that its positive effects on the human body and its medicinal uses were documented. The oil extracted from the seeds of the plant is very valuable, but since its seeds are very small, the production of the oil is very expensive.
