Positive effects of thistle oil

Thistle oil is rich in unsaturated fatty acids and has the highest content of Linoleic acid. Linoleic acid has an extremely positive effect on the cardiovascular system.

The cold pressed thistle oil is gained from the seed of the plant. Its valuable components, especially the silymarin, have a beneficial effect on the body in general and the liver in particular, by reducing inflammations and acting as an antitoxin. Furthermore, the precious ingredients of cold pressed thistle oil strengthen the heart and boost the immune system. Its regular consumption can prevent damage to our health caused by the intake of poisonous substances such as alcohol, medications or heavy metals.

Used externally, thistle oil can relieve the symptoms of acne due to its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial effect. In addition it is said that it is effective against joint pain, rheumatics, bruises and crushing injuries if massaged in regularly.

Uses for cold-pressed thistle oil

To prevent damage or destruction of the particularly high content of unsaturated fatty acids, thistle oil should not be heated too high. To retain the valuable substances as far as possible it is recommended to use thistle oil for gentle simmering and braising. When it is dripped over raw or steamed vegetables or used for enhancing soups or salad dressings, thistle oil releases its full flavor which is slightly reminiscent of grass.

Its healing powers in the home were known to ancient peoples. Gently massaged into painful areas it develops its effect against bruising and other sport injuries as well as against some other chronic complaints.
